Fashion Trends for College Students

One of the most popular college clothing trends right now is the return of the tennis skirt. You’ve probably also seen many women sporting oversized sweatshirts or shirts with shorts. College fashion isn’t only defined by what you wear – it can also be an expression of your personal style. The Herald recently spoke to Alexandra Howell, an assistant professor of human environmental sciences and fashion program coordinator.

Y2K fashion is a trend that is bringing back late ’90s and early-mid-2000s styles. This trend has been growing in popularity over the past year and looks to be sticking around for quite some time. Its style combines retro with futuristic punk and bright colors. Some items you may want to consider wearing this season include funky sunglasses and chunky jewelry. You can also expect to see a lot of glitter.

Another clothing trend that will make a comeback in men’s fashion is high-waisted pants. High-waisted pants have long been popular with women and can make men appear taller. High-waisted pants are also influenced by the classic silhouettes of the 1950s and 1960s.

Colorful fabrics are also in vogue. Red has been a major color this season, and it has been seen in many fashion shows, from the Met Gala to Cannes. Katy Perry and Rose Byrne have both stepped out in red dresses for the latter. Another popular fall trend is military green camo print. This hue pairs perfectly with jeans and works well with casual ensembles. However, when kept simple, it can look very chic.

Crocheted clothing is also on the rise. The Harry Styles video, which premiered last summer, helped boost its popularity. The video featured a group of partygoers on a beach enjoying fruits while wearing a rainbow of crocheted beach clothes. Since then, the trend has continued to rise. In fact, the number of searches for crochet clothing has increased by 85% since July.

Another exciting fashion trend is the upcycling movement. Upcycling involves turning used items into valuable materials. Upcycled clothing can be sold at prices that rival new items. This trend has inspired younger fashion designers to turn old garments into unique creations. While the concept of upcycling is not new, it is definitely catching on and making a mark in the fashion industry.

It is important to understand what consumers are looking for when it comes to clothing. Knowing what they want and need will help fashion companies sell more and generate more profits. By studying the way that consumers live, fashion companies can develop products that address their needs. In turn, consumers will buy more clothing that appeals to them.

While many trends come and go, some trends are here to stay for the long term. For instance, the puff-sleeve trend lasted for several years, and it will still be popular in 2022. The oversized sleeve is another trend that may persist for several years.
