artisans & friends
The very talented doyenne of Southern cooking created our signature recipes but more than that, helped as a mentor and cheerleader. One of the smartest decisions made early on for Preserving Place was to get help from the best Southern cook around, and she really came through in delivering imaginative products that pack a big flavor punch with lots of versatility. Plus Virginia is an inspiration as a gracious Southern lady who deserves kudos and accolades for her talent – thank you, Virginia!
Square Feet Studio
This is the dream team if you want the best architects and interior designers – we asked them to make Preserving Place look like “updated Charleston traditional meets Piedmont country store encounters industrial edge." They said, sure, and did just that as though it was easy, which it was not. On top of that, they offer good business advice, honor budgets and timelines, and are just doggone fun and awesome to work with.
Green Olive Media
We’ve always admired the great work Green Olive does for Southern Foodways Alliance so when it came time to choose a graphic design team, we knew they were perfect. They nailed the look we wanted of old school elements with a modern edge.
The inspiring story of this company of formerly homeless carpenters now gainfully employed creating beautiful furniture made them the only choice to craft the farm table for our meeting room. Fellowship when all gather around the table is a keystone to why we want to make righteous good food so this table by the kitchen is the heart of Preserving Place.
Skylar Morgan Furniture Design
Our beautiful wood paneled walls, cashwrap, bookcase, interior window and retail display cases were made by this most talented designer. Skylar is a true artisan who crafts with great care.

Andy Lee captures the most beautiful light and spirit in his photos. It was wonderful to work with a kindred spirit who loves baseball and cares about good food to the point that he is one of the creators of “Brother” magazine.
